  I am livid after my experience at My Family Dentist today. I have never encountered a dental office with such disrespect for my time. I originally made an appointment for an exam and cleaning. I was told when scheduling my appointment to reserve 2 hours for my visit. I thought this was an abnormally long time for a dental appointment, but as I was new to the area and this office I did not know what to expect. I made a commitment to come to my appointment in a variety of ways: I scheduled it with the office, I took 2 hours off of work, and I verified that I would come to the appointment by phone. I had been told during scheduling to complete the online intake forms, and I did that as well.
  
  When I arrived at My Family Dentist at 1:30 for my 1:30 appointment, another gentleman was in the waiting area. I saw on the sign-in form that he had signed in at 1:00. At 1:40, he told the receptionist to cancel his appointment. She said that the hygienist was almost finished and would be with him shortly, but he instead opted to leave. I admit that I do not know this entire story, so I can't speak to his experience, but it was not a good first impression. Unfortunately, I came to understand his feelings as I waited 30 minutes for someone to start my appointment. My X-rays were obtained, and the dentist did her exam. She was very kind, as was the lady who did my X-rays. After they left, I waited for about 10 minutes reclined in the chair. When the lady who did my X-rays returned, she said, "Can you come back at 4 today? We don't have any hygienists who can do your cleaning." I told her that I was going back to work after my appointment, so I could not come back at 4. I also told her that I work during the business hours of My Family Dentist, so I was unavailable to take another appointment on a different day. She said, "Maybe you can talk to your boss about taking time off from work." I told her that I had already done that to attend today's appointment. She told me to speak with the receptionist to find a time that would work with my schedule. Because Saturday hours are offered by appointments only, the next time she could schedule me for a cleaning is two months from now.
  
  I am insulted by the nonchalant attitude with which this office approached my sacrifice to get there today. I was supposed to schedule 2 hours for this appointment, and I did. I fulfilled my side of the bargain. It was not until I was in the chair, having waited a total of about 45 minutes, when I was told they could not see me for the services they scheduled me for. Although the employees were nice people, I believe this business is lacking in professionalism, and it seems like it extends to other clientele as well. I will not be returning to this business, and I will pass along this experience to anyone who asks for a recommendation for a local dental office.
